Brakettes Launch Six Homers vs. H.S. All-Stars

June 19, 2014 - Allyson Fournier struck out 25 of the 27 batters she faced Thursday night, as she hurled a nine-inning perfect game against the Connecticut H.S. All-Stars. The Brakettes were led by Amber Radomski and Mandie Fishback, who hit two home runs apiece in the 14-0 win. The Brakettes smacked six homers on the night.

Talia Loda (East Haven H.S.), Mykayla Harris (Berlin H.S.) and Samantha Lee (Woodland H.S.) split the pitching duties for the All-Stars, who brought many of the top high school seniors from around the state to get a shot at the Brakettes.

Loda started for the All-Stars and struck out five Brakettes in her three inning-stint.

Fournier dominated in the circle right from the beginning, and only twice had to rely on the defense behind her to make plays.

Gillian Fortier (Naugatuck H.S.) was the only All-Star that did not strike out in the contest, as she grounded out to short in the second inning and popped to third in the eight. She finished her senior year without a single strikeout recorded against her, including playoffs and the All-Star Game.

Bri Chiusano got the Brakettes rolling early in the first, after getting hit by a pitch in the helmet. She stole second base and moved to third on a single by Denise Denis. Elena Bowman lofted a sac fly to right to plate Chiusano for an early 1-0 edge.

After Loda pitched a scoreless second, the Brakettes again cracked the scoreboard in the third.

Chiusano led off with a bunt single and reached second when the throw to first caromed off her and into right field. Denis followed and blasted her team-leading fifth homer of the season to extend the margin to 3-0. It was the 82nd career home run for Denis, who had three hits and scored three times in the matchup.

Mandie Fishback led off the fourth with a single up the middle and moved up a bag on a wild pitch. Radomski came up with one out and lofted a two-run shot to left-center, her first home run of the year. The 5-0 lead stood going into the fifth, when the Brakettes broke the game wide open.

Denis walked to start the fifth and stole second base. After a single by Bowman, Fishback crushed her first long ball of 2014 to give Stratford an 8-0 advantage.

Radomski drilled her second homer of the game with one out in the frame to dead center, and Mariel Schlaefer immediately followed with her first home run of the season. The back-to-back blasts stretched the lead to 10-0.

Denis started another rally in the sixth with a double to right. She scored on a single by Bowman, pushing the lead to 11-0. Fishback came up next and crushed her second HR of the game, a two-run shot, for a 13-0 lead. Fishback had four hits and five RBIs on the night.

Bowman reached on her third hit of the game in the home eighth and moved up to second on a single by Fishback. With one out, Radomski singled home Bowman to close out the scoring at 14-0. Radomski finished with four RBIs on three hits.

Bryanna McIntosh (Cheshire H.S.) made a pair of nice plays at shortstop for the All-Stars, who committed just one error. The All-Stars joined the Brakettes on the field for a group picture after the game ended.

The Brakettes will return to action on Friday night at 7:00 against the Newtown Rock Gold of Newtown, PA. The Rock were the last team to defeat the Brakettes at DeLuca Field, with a 7-3 victory in the second game on Opening Night on June 4, 2010. The Brakettes have now won 210 straight games at home since that loss.

All 2014 Brakettes' game will be video webcast at www.brakettes.com.
