Jana Sanden

Position: SS/IF
Bats: R
Throws: R
College: Connecticut
Resides: Riverton, CT

Jana Sanden earned a reputation around the travel circuit the past few years as a can't miss college prospect. After watching her play for a few minutes, you will realize that it didn't take a brain surgeon to make that statement. The 5-foot-10 Northwestern Regional graduate signed with UConn last year and she was groomed as the shortstop of the future for the Huskies. The future came less than 15 games into her career as she took over at shortstop and veteran superstar Briana Marcelino moved to second base. Starting all 42 games for UConn, Sanden hit .326 with 22 runs scored and 15 extra base hits, including a team-high 8 home runs and 31 RBI. While UConn lost out on an NCAA tournament berth, Sanden was named Big East Freshman of the Year and first-team all-league. She led Northwestern Regional to three consecutive Berkshire League titles and a 2019 All-State selection. She also excelled in soccer and basketball.
